Registration for the Fort Scott High School Reunion got underway Friday and continues from 9 to 11 a.m. today at the Fort Scott Middle School. Other activities include a tour of the LaRoche Baseball Complex at 10:30 a.m. Alumni are also invited to the Retired Teacher's Reception from 4 to 5 p.m., a chicken dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and the Welcome Home Assembly, all at the Fort Scott Middle School...

The Kansas Supreme Court has upheld the felony murder conviction of a Fort Scott man whose wife died in a 2011 arson fire. In an opinion released Friday, the court rejected arguments made by Brent Bollinger in an appeal of his life sentence for the death of his wife, Brenna Nicole Bollinger, who died in a fire at the couple's home in October 2011. Brenna had filed for divorce but still lived at the house, the Associated Press reported...

Alysia Johnston, 56, assumed the position of the president of Fort Scott Community College on June 1, following 29 years at Coffeyville Community College. A native of Edna she received an undergraduate degree from Kansas State University in animal science and industry. She and her husband Chuck graduated from K-State in 1981 and moved back to Labette County where he started farming...

Mary Louise Smith, 94, of Baldwin City, Kan., formerly of Blue Mound, died at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at ComfortCare Homes in Baldwin City. Mary was born Aug. 23, 1920 in Montreal, Mo., to Edgar Harrison and Ruth Ellen (Clarke) Smith. ...
