PARSONS -- Fort Scott's No. 1 doubles team of Briana Williams and Emily Adams won all three matches here Tuesday and claimed first place at the six-team Labette County junior varsity tennis tournament. Tiger golfers finish fifth

GIRARD -- Fort Scott High School's golf team finished fifth in an 18-hole tournament here Thursday. The Tigers shot 466 as a team. Caney Valley was the team champion with a score of 385 followed by Labette County at 386 and Pittsburg with a 438. Last Friday night, Madison was the No. 1 team in Eight-Man Division I in the Wichita Eagle football poll. But the Bulldogs made a long trip to western Kansas and were stunned by an unranked --but still very good -- Spearville squad, 32-28.
