ALTAMONT, Kan. -- Fort Scott High School's cross country season opened here Thursday at the Labette County Invitational. The Tigers did not enter enough runners in any race to score team points. In the boys' varsity race, Robert Sellers finished in eighth place in 18 minutes, 25 seconds. IOLA, Kan. -- Fort Scott High School's volleyball team swept a non-league triangular here Thursday, beating Iola and Prairie View. The Iola scores were 25-12, 25-19. Against Prairie View, the Tigers (6-1) prevailed 25-12, 25-19. ALTAMONT, Kan. -- Fort Scott High School head coach Bob Campbell's return to the sidelines fell just short of a victory here Friday night as Labette County held on for a 26-24 win in both teams' season opener. UNIONTOWN, Kan. -- Mistakes were deadly for Uniontown in its season opener here Friday night as the Eagles dropped a 34-6 decision to Burlington after making too many of them, according to head coach Chad Stroud. "We made many mistakes, some at key times," Stroud said. "One of the biggest mistakes was my fault: A substitution error cost us a scoring opportunity early in the game.
