Enrollment numbers up at PSU, FSCC

Pittsburg State University has set a new spring enrollment record, and numbers are up so far this year at Fort Scott Community College as well. As of last Friday, spring enrollment at FSCC is 1,885 students enrolled in 18,941 credit hours of instruction, both numbers that are up a few percentage points from last spring, FSCC Registrar Bill Meyer said. ...

FSMS students to compete at state History Day

Fort Scott Middle School was well represented at this year's district History Day competition. Seven FSMS eighth-graders placed either first or second at the contest conducted Feb. 17 at Fort Scott Community College. Two students, Taylor Bailey and Hali Eads, placed in individual competitions, while two FSMS groups placed first in their respective contests. Mary Ellen Lundberg escaped serious injury on Feb. 9. She and her friend, Tommy Lou Cherry, were driving home from a trip to Pittsburg that evening, a deer ran into the pathway of the car. She hit the deer and a semi-truck following them, ran into the back of her car. It was demolished but she and Tommy Lou escaped with only bruises and stiffness. They are both glad their guardian angels were looking after them...
