John Woodrich's history with the Sisters of Mercy health system has brought him back to the Midwest. The 47-year old Omaha, Neb. native assumed the responsibilities of president and chief executive officer of Mercy Health System of Kansas on Nov. 13, bringing with him more than 30 years of experience in the health care industry. Organizers and performers of the "Life in a Jar" project have only begun the effort to get the Polish-born heroine Irena Sendler nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Concealed weapons may be banned on city property

If the Fort Scott City Commission approves an ordinance at Tuesday's meeting, the public will be prohibited from carrying concealed guns onto property owned or leased by the city. City documents indicate that at 7 p.m. Tuesday, at City Hall, 1 E. Third St., the commission will hear the second and final reading of the ordinance aimed at banning concealed firearms on city property...
