Esther Stanbrough, age 93, formerly of Mound City, Kan., passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, at the Horton House, Fort Scott.  She was born Aug. 21, 1930, in Prescott, Kan., the daughter of Chesley and Esther Mathews. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse before her marriage to Lloyd Stanbrough on May 29, 1949. Esther served as postmaster in Mound City for many years. Justin Dean Hersh, age 45, a resident of Overland Park, Kan., passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, at his home. He was born Feb. 10, 1978, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Jack D. Hersh and Ann (Cook) Hersh. He graduated from Fort Scott High School with the class of 1996, and then attended Kansas State University with degrees in Wildlife Biology and Natural Resources...

Keith E. Gibson, age 89, a resident of rural Fort Scott, Kan., passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, at his home. He was born March 31, 1934, in Mount Ayr, Iowa, the son of George Gibson and Violet Rowena Newman Gibson.  There was cremation and no services are planned at this time. ...
