Lindsey Lewis, age 31 of Fort Scott, Kan., who resided in Dallas, Texas, passed away on Monday, Sept. 17, 2018 of an unexpected aortic dissection. She was born on June 21, 1987, in Springfield, Mo., the daughter of Jerry and Kitty Mullane Lewis. Lindsey was a 2005 graduate of Fort Scott High School before attending Washington University in Saint Louis and then finishing her bachelor’s degree in political science and history at the University of Kansas. ...

New U.S. citizens take oath at Memorial Hall (Local News ~ 09/21/18)
Although in a different setting this year, a naturalization ceremony held Friday was the last step for 93 people in becoming U.S. citizens. The United States District Court for the District of Kansas held the ceremony, which was moved from its usual site on the grounds of the Fort Scott National Historic Site, to Memorial Hall due to the threat of rain in the forecast.
