Lori Ann Culp, age 50, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., passed away Monday, March 12, 2018, at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center. She was born on March 21, 1967 in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Joseph and Nancy Parker. Lori was a devoted wife and mother who loved to fish, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family especially her grandkids...

Frank Steven “Steve” Perry, 71, of Pittsburg, passed at 3:10 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born Feb. 19, 1947, at Oakland, Calif., the son of Frank Veiril and Bernice Alice (Anthony) Perry. He attended high school at Maryvale High in Phoenix Ariz. ...

OTTAWA — Fort Scott Community College’s baseball team swept the Ottawa University junior varsity here Monday by scores of 9-0 and 11-0. Five members of Fort Scott High School’s basketball teams were honored recently by Southeast Kansas League coaches. Seniors Madison Cook and Skyelar Brown were two of four players voted unanimously to the All-SEK Girls’ First Team. Fort Scott Community College’s softball team has had a busy five days in which they played nine games, including Tuesday’s Jayhawk Conference-Division II opening doubleheader versus Labette at the Betty Ruth Willard Complex. Friday and Saturday, the Greyhounds (1-1 conference, 14-7 overall) played five games in two days at the Crowder Bash in Joplin. They lost four of them, but all of those were to Division I teams and three of them have winning records...
