Voters got to know candidates running for spots on local city and school boards during an election candidate's forum Monday night at the Danny and Willa Ellis Family Fine Arts Center on the Fort Scott Community College campus. Two Easter events were held in Fort Scott Saturday. Children made Easter crafts during the Eggstravaganza Crafts event held at Buck Run Community Center, then could hunt for eggs during the annual Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt held at Gunn Park.

Mary K. O'Brien, age 87, a resident of rural Fort Scott, Kan., died Friday, March 27, 2015, at the Fort Scott Manor. She was born Jan. 13, 1928, in Humboldt, Kan., the daughter of Albert Potts and Frances Kaufman Potts. Mary K. had worked as a social worker in Vernon County, Mo. Mildred Lee Lager, 78, of Fort Scott, Kan., passed away Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014 at St. Luke's South in Overland Park, Kan. She was born March 1, 1936 in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Charles Lewis and Ola Marie (Williams) Lager.
