ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. -- The Kansas Jayhawk Community College conference named 15 members of Fort Scott Community College's football team to its All-Conference Team earlier this week. Fort Scott, currently 9-2 with a trip to the Valley of the Sun Bowl in Phoenix, Ariz., coming up Dec. 1, finished as the runner-up in both conference play and in the Region VI Playoffs. FORT SCOTT, Kan. -- Three Fort Scott Community College baseball players have made their decisions about where they will continue their college careers after this season. Sophomores Jeff Rydman, Dan Huff and Brandt Barnes signed with four-year universities Friday morning in the Dave Regan Clubhouse on the FSCC campus. Nov. 10 found 38 Fort Scott debaters in action at two separate tournaments. Most the squad traveled at 5 a.m. to compete at Caney Valley. The Tigers captured 1st place as a squad by earning 10 of the 16 placings awarded. 100 YEARS AGO (1907) Fort Scott people who have seen the new $10 gold piece that the government has just coined are not very favorably impressed with the design. It looks as though something is lacking. Perhaps it is the "In God We Trust" which has caused such a flurry of excitement, and perhaps it is because the eagle on one side is too fat. At any rate, the coin will be accepted for its full face value after the people become accustomed to it...
