Local families enjoy annual reunions

Cami Bobbett and children, Riley and Trevor, Nevada, Mo., recently spent the afternoon visiting her grandparents, Eddie and Opal Brillhart.

Esther Secrest joined her daughter, Dixie Woolley, Lynette Turney, Mike Moreau, Catoosa, Okla., and Leah Hankins and children, Ivan and Brooklyn, Sapulpa, Okla., to go to the Secrest Family Reunion in Littleton, Colo., July 21 thru 26. All thirty of Esther's children and grandchildren were in attendance. The celebration was held at Chatfield Lake near Denver, Colo. All enjoyed riding on Gery and Missy's pontoon on Chatfield Lake. The 2009 reunion will be in Tulsa, Okla.

Our sympathies are with the family of Marjorie Lewis, whose sister, Isabelle Shull, of Vancouver, Wash., recently passed away. Isabelle was the daughter of Roy and Louise Singmaster, who were long time members of this community.

Josh and Jackie Lundberg and Joslyn, Lois Query and Esther Secrest attended the annual Query Reunion, August 2, at the Buck Run Community Center, in Fort Scott. About 65 attended the reunion.

Gene and Margaret Winters and Wylma Campbell took supper to Marjorie Lewis, Wednesday evening, and the group later enjoyed playing cards.

Rev. Jon and Sharon Henderson, Mesquite, Texas, were overnight guests of her brother, Ed Brillhart and his wife Opal, last week.

Hadley Shay Brillhart, Independence, Mo., visited several days recently with their grandparents, Ed and Opal Brillhart.

Lucille Wolf visited with Anna Mayme Wolf, who is making her home with her son, David Wolf and his wife, of Deerfield, Mo.

Members of the Thrift Club met for their annual "breakfast out", at the Sunrise Restaurant, in Nevada, Mo., August 6. Seven members were present. The club will meet September 3, for lunch with Sylvia Edgle.

Lynette Turney spent several days last week with her grandmother, Esther Secrest. Mike Moreau came up Friday and they did several "honey do" jobs. Sunday they all enjoyed dinner at Chicken Annie's before Lynette and Mike returned to Catoosa.

Natalie and Amanda Wolf went with their grandmother to a Garden Tractor Pull at Rich Hill, Mo. It is reported that Amanda won one of the events.

Jon Bingesser, who will be in his third year at PSU, has accepted the position of head Volleyball Coach at NorthEast High School, in Arma.

Pastor Stephens sermon at the Diamond Community Church, August 3, was "Put No Confidence in the Flesh, but Follow Jesus," taken from Philippians 3. Special music was by Rahab and Bro Muhota. A baptismal service was held for Douglas Kessinger and Tierre Daubin, after the morning service at the home of Ann Chow. Their upcoming wedding is August 23.

Mike Brillhart and family, Wheatland, Wyo., recently spent several days with his parents, Ed and Opal Brillhart. Mike's daughter, Kate Brillhart, was also a frequent visitor during Mike's visit. They all attended the Brillhart Reunion at Lynn Valley Lakes Clubhouse on Saturday, where they were joined by Mike's brothers Mark and Matt and their families. On Sunday, Jeff and Paul Norris were visitors at the Brillhart home.

Maxine (Wolf) Gearhart and daughter, Cheri Heepley of Tracey, Calif., wre here recently visiting relatives and friends. Maxine grew up around here.
