Fourth of July celebrations, cookouts

Ed and Opal Brillhart enjoyed July 4 with their sons and families, at the home of Mark and Diane and family, Hiattville, and Matt and Teresa Brillhart, Iva and Hadley, Independence, Mo. Others joining in the fun were Brianne Brillhart and Cooper, Tammy and Ryan Bobbett, Riley and Trevor, Nevada Mo. Megan Brillhart, Overland Park and John and Lorna Slater, Hiattville. Matt and his family came home with Ed and Opal and spent the rest of the weekend.

Those enjoying the Fourth of July with Eldon and Joan Crane were Julie and Jay Leek, Jennifer Leek and Mark Wellendorf and Mackensie, Jaymie Leek and Patrick Murphy, Jared and Kimberly Leek and Ronda and Danny Peterson.

Esther Secrest attended a cookout at the home of Dale and Betty Hixon. Also present were Denton Hixon, his wife, and Raven, and Lois Reeder, Uniontown, Deana Hixon, The Button Family, Agnes Armstrong, Shirley McMillian, Stan and Roberta Armstrong and Scott, Arlington, Texas.

Theodore and Joan Koller have returned from Millford, Ill., where they attended the wedding of their son, Ted Beals.

Pastor Stephan's sermon, July 6, was based on Philipians 1; Paul's letter to the church at Philipi. He stressed that life goes in circles; God is doing something everyday. Twenty members of Ann Chow's family visited during the worship service. The church members will enjoy a picnic at Gunn Park, Shelter house 5, on July 13.

Jon Bingesser recently accompanied his dad, Jon Bingesser, Sr., to Branson for a few days.

Richard and Paulette Albright spent some time in Wichita, June 28 and 29, visiting with their daughter Dani and family. Two grandchildren came home with them for a visit.

Esther Secrest went with Betty and Dale Hixon, Dean Hixon, Shirley McMillan, and Stan, Roberta and Scott Armstrong to Chicken Mary's Restauraunt, July 5.

Trevor Swim recently attended a football camp in Manhattan.

Bon and Bonita Wrestler, Chanute, visited with Edna Mae Marsh, June 30.

Hubert and Joan Thomas, Edna Mae Marsh and Zach Snyder drove to Miami, Okla., June 29, to help Jo Bob Wright celebrate his birthday.

Kenny and Shawnee Clary, Jessica and friend, visited with her parents, Charles and Doris DeMott, July 4.

Marge Lauker, julie and Julia Lattimer, drove to Nipa, Mo., Friday and spent July 4 with Charlie and Jean Stock and their sons. Others enjoying the celebration were, Mike and Ellen Lauker, Joplin, Pam and Jeff Wallace and family, Olathe. The occasion was special because it was a neighborhood Fourth of July celebration.
