Family, friends, food a winning combination

The Harvey siblings met for their regular monthly get together, Feb. 8 with Edna Mae Marsh. The group enjoyed visiting and the noon meal prepared by the hostess. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Gates, Joplin, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Harvey, Vian, Okla.; Ada Jean Chaffin and Roberta, Independence, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wrestler, Chanute; Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. John Snyder and Bart Wright.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ledford and Esther Secrest were among those attending the reception Feb. 9, honoring Dorothy DeCoudres's 90th birthday. Her daughters, Betty Hixon, Shirley McMillan and Roberta Armstrong, hosted the event held at the home of Mike and Lori Hixon. On Friday, Feb. 8, the group enjoyed chicken at Chicken Mary's. Those attending were Dorothy DeCoudres, Dale and Betty Hixon, Mike Hixon, Denton and Anne Hixon, Lois Reeder, Mr. and Mrs. Barry Button and family, Esther Secrest, Shirley McMillan, Mr. and Mrs. Stan Armstrong and Scott, Texas.

On Feb. 10, Pastor Muhota's sermon was titled "Stand Your Ground." Scripture was 11 Timothy 4:1-8. The special "God Will Make a Way" was sung by Joy and Stephen Muhota and Rahab.

Dorothy Ketner, Anna Rourk, Beulah Queen and Esther Secrest enjoyed lunch at The Chinese Chef Restaurant in Nevada on Feb. 13.

On Feb. 17, Pastor Muhota's sermon was titled "He Knows You," based on Revelation 1. Visitors were Sue Gray, San Diego, Calif., Stanley Ford, Rylet Stsfka, Treia and Aspin Dubin, and Doug Kessinger. Sue Gray of California visited with her mother, Edna Mae Marsh last week. She also visited her brother Hubert and family.

On Sunday, the group had lunch with John and Natalie Snyder before Sue left for home. John Bingesser was home over the weekend to visit his mother, Carol and sister, Brittany. He attends Pittsburg State University.

The Thrift Club had their meeting canceled last month. They will meet for lunch March 5 at 11:30 a.m. at Aunt Toadie's. After lunch, they will meet with Beulah Queen.

Members of the Meet and Eat Support Group enjoyed lunch at the First Christian Church Jan. 20 with the Lenten Luncheon.
