Sunday, March 25, Ron and Glenda Wolf, Amanda and Natalie and Bob Prettyman attended church at Liberal, Mo. in honor of Raymond Kalm's 70th birthday. Ninety of his family and friends gathered for a surprise dinner following the services.
March 27, Beulah Queen treated Dorothy Ketner, Nellie Kalm, Anna Rourk and Esther Secrest to breakfast at the NuGrille Restaurant.
MaryEllen Lundberg attended the Daughters of the Nile meeting at the home of Ruth Farmer on March 26.
On March 16, family members gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Simpson to help Don Simpson celebrate his 80th birthday. Cake and ice cream were served to the following, Mr. and Mrs. Brady Simpson, Mr. and Mrs. Mason Simpson, Charlene Simpson, Lisa Ireland, Dale Simpson and family, Rachel Stewart and family, and Harold Dean and Lela Simpson. Congratualtions Don!
Saturday night, March 24, Amanda and Natalie Wolf attended a countywide lock in for 4-H members of Vernon County, Mo. It was held at the YMCA. Amanda is on the county 4-H council and helped plan the fun and eats for the occasion.
Dixie Wooley and Lyneete Turney, Catoosa, Okla. visited with Dorothy Martens at Mercy Health Center on March 25, and Dixie's mother, Esther Secrest, at her home.
The Red Hats met at the First Christian Church on March 22. They were served a delicious meal prepared by the Ericson children from the Hiattville 4-H Club. This was one of their required community projects for 4-H. Those attending from this area were Katherine Toynton, Mary Ellen Lundberg, Ginger Thomas, Judy Howser, and Peggy Thorpe.
Don and Charlene Simpson visited with Lucile Wolf on March 26.
Glenda and Natalie Wolf took an early spring break and went to New York City for five days. While there, they and their friends attended the Broadway musical, "Tarzan" and the Blue Man Group. They rode the subways; visited the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Battery Park, ground zero, Times Square, and NBC Studios. They enjoyed shopping at Manhattan Mall and Macy's. There was one store several stories high that sold everything for 99 cents, even milk, bread, etc. They really enjoyed the trip and said they are ready to go back. You might want to ask Brenda about her experience with the purse lifting pair. It's very interesting.
Sunday evening, March 25, the Wolfs went to Richards, Mo. and enjoyed supper with Joe and Shirley Winters.
March 25, Joy, Bro and Rahab Muhota sang the special "Have Your Way Lord." Pastor Muhota's sermon was entitled "Count Down To The Cross." Scripture was read from Mark 10:32-34. He stressed nine things that Jesus told his deciples that would happen to him.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles March and children ate dinner with Edna Mae Marsh on March 20.
JoAnn Thomas and grandson, Nicholas Thomas, just returned from a skiing trip to Colorado.
Edna Mae Marsh and JoAnn Thomas took Horace Hawkins to Joplin, Mo. on March 27, for a doctor's appointment.
Bob and Bonita Wrestler, Chanute, visited with Edna Mae Marsh on March 28.
