Mary Rosamond Shull, 96, of Parsons, Kan., formerly of Fort Scott, died Saturday afternoon, Feb. 1, 2014 in Fort Scott. She was born Aug. 22, 1917 in Fort Scott, the daughter of Frank Henry and Ethelyn Elizabeth (Johnston) Keeney. She married Chester Shull on May 2, 1937 in Wichita, Kan., he preceded her in death July 10, 1975...

Mary Eva Dauben Allen was born on Aug. 26, 1930 in Arcadia, Kan., the daughter of Edith and Howard Dauben. She passed away on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at the St. Luke's Heart Institute of Kansas City, Mo. Mary lived in the Arcadia and Fort Scott area her entire life. ...

Georgia Anne Chesney, 101, of Nashville, Tenn., passed away Thursday, Jan. 30. in Columbia, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband, William James Chesney Jr., of Nashville. Others include her parents, Andrew Jackson Hare and Mae Johnston Hare; infant sister, Eda Ruth Hare and sister, Leta Hare, all of Fort Scott, Kan. Georgia and Bill had no children...

Junior Donovan (J.D.) Shankel, 92, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, in the Osage Beach Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Osage Beach, Mo. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Southminster Presbyterian Church at 6306 Roe Ave., Prairie Village, Kan., 66208. Burial will follow in the church columbarium and then family and friends can all meet in the Fellowship Hall of the church to visit...

Dancers are gearing up for Rotary's fourth annual "Dancing with our Stars" by putting in long hours practicing. As of Monday, the county's new security plan went into effect Monday, which limits access to two east doors at the Bourbon County Courthouse.
