On Monday, there will be an opportunity for someone to pick up a piece of property in Bourbon County. County entities have been crunching numbers recently to meet the Aug. 25 deadline for submitting their budgets to Bourbon County Clerk Kendell Mason. All public entities in the county must have an approved budget by then. Curtis James Elliott, age 49, resident of Fort Scott, Kan., died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, as the result of a one-car accident. He was born Feb. 18, 1964, in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Harold Joe Elliott and Claudia F. Mann Elliott. Curtis was a 1982 graduate of Uniontown High School. ...

Robert Eugene Vail, 78, of Parker, Colo., passed on Aug. 6, 2013 at his home in Parker. He was born Aug. 7, 1934 the son of James "Jim" R. and Frances J. (Seaver) Vail in Fort Scott, Kan. Bob had one sister, Caroll who resides in Texas. Bob enlisted in the Navy as a teenager and his stories included being stationed in Kodiak, Alaska and serving during the Korean conflict. ...
