Ellen Frances Cook Mullane

Ellen Frances Cook Mullane was born on March 5, 1924 in Fort Scott, Kan. She died on Dec. 8, 2024, in Peoria, Ariz. She was preceded in death by John Timothy "Tim" Mullane, her husband, of 68 years, her parents, William
E. Cook and Ruth (McFadden) Cook; three siblings: Bernard Cook, Willard Cook and Alvena Cook McClellan; children, infant son, Daniel Joseph Mullane, daughter Molly Marie O'Malley, son, Dennis Michael Mullane, son-in-law, Jerry M. Lewis, granddaughter, Lindsey Louise Lewis, and, great-granddaughter, Braelyn Grace Torans.
She is survived by seven children, Margaret Ann "Peggy" (Jerry) Pinto, Mary Bridget (Chuck) Overman, Patricia Kathleen "Patty" Hutchison, Shannon Maureen (Ernie Holguin) Mullane, Eileen Jean (David) Goltra, Kitty Colleen Lewis and Timothy Patrick "Tim" (Silvia) Mullane, 22 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, son-in-law, Mike O'Malley, daughter-in-law, Debbie Mullane Stockebrand and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ellen attended Fort Scott schools and was affectionately nick-named, "Cookie." She met Tim at FSHS, where they graduated in 1941. Ellen attended Fort Scott JUCO, then married Tim, Aug. 1, 1944. Ellen supported her children in numerous activities at St. Mary's School, FSJHS and FSHS. In addition, she attended countless summer recreation activities at the pool and ballpark. Ellen was an excellent seamstress and made many clothing items for her children as well as Molly's wedding dress. Following Tim's retirement, they relocated in 1992 to Sun City, Ariz.
At Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 714 S. Eddy, on Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, a rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. A private burial at St. Mary's Cemetery will follow the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Mary Queen of Angels Rebuild Fund at 705 S. Holbrook, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
