Gerald V. "Gary" Brown

Gerald V. "Gary" Brown, age 79, of Fulton, Kan., passed away Saturday Sept. 14, 2024. He was born on Oct. 1, 1944, in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Gerald and Vera Kohl Brown. He graduated from Hume High School. Gary served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Dollie Hopkins on Feb. 20, 1971. She preceded him in death on June 13, 2011. He later met Voneta Davidson. The two remained special friends until his passing. Gary was a dairy farmer, crop farmer and raised beef cattle. He liked going to flea markets, always on the lookout for M&M memorabilia. He spent many evenings in his prairie meadow watching the sun go down, the moon rise, and looking at the stars. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Linda Lou Minkler. Gary is survived by his longtime companion and friend, Voneta Davidson, a sister, Roberta Stringer, nieces nephews, extended family and friends.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024 at the Pleasanton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel.
