Behind a strong running game, the Fort Scott High School Tiger football team cruised to a 42-27 win over the Paola Panthers in the season opener Friday night at Frary Field.

The Tigers (1-0) were able to enact some revenge on the Panthers (0-1) from a 34-28 loss in the 2023 season opener in Paola. In that contest, the Tigers scored 21 unanswered points in a second-half comeback attempt, but the Panthers held on for the victory.

The 2023 game saw the Tigers’ offense face a stingy Paola defense in the first half, and penalties that left the Tigers trailing 21-0 at halftime.
