Vote to publish county budget not unanimous

Bourbon County Commissioners on Aug. 26 were not in total agreement on the county’s published budget, which includes a proposed estimated tax rate of 59.9 mills.

Commissioners passed by a 2-1 vote a motion by Commissioner Brandon Whisenhunt to publish the budget in The Fort Scott Tribune and conduct a public hearing on the budget at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, when the commission will consider final approval of the budget.
