City sets special meeting on downtown building

The Fort Scott City Commission plans to conduct a special meeting Monday to address the future of a deteriorating building which city officials have said has become a safety hazard.

The commission agreed to meet at 6 p.m. Monday at City Hall to continue discussion on the building which houses the Fort Scott Barber Shop at 118 E. Wall St., and determine the building owner’s intentions before proceeding with a decision. Commissioners will look to determine whether the city needs to take control of the property.
