Motorists traveling on National Avenue in the downtown area Tuesday morning may have noticed a change in their route.

On a social media post, Fort Scott City Manager Brad Matkin said the decision was made internally to lower the speed limit on a portion of National Avenue due to traffic concerns. He said there was also discussion about once again placing a stop sign at Second and National. The stop signs were removed later Tuesday.
