In the closest contested race in Bourbon County, incumbent Sheriff Bill Martin kept his seat by a close margin, according to official primary election results released Monday.

With 2,430 ballots cast on the Republican ticket for the sheriff’s race, Martin received 1,225 votes (51.08%) to challenger Nelson Blythe’s 1,173 votes (48.92%.) There were 32 undervotes in that race, which occurs when a voter does not vote for one candidate or leaves the ballot blank.
