Candidates speak out during forum

Candidates for county offices, including those running unopposed, took to the podium for a Primary Election Candidate Forum Thursday evening at Fort Scott High School.

The forum, which was sponsored by the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce, included candidates for the following positions: U.S. House of Representatives District 2; Kansas Senate District 13 and Kansas House of Representatives District 4; Bourbon County Commission Districts 1, 2 and 3; Bourbon County Attorney; Bourbon County Register of Deeds; Bourbon County Treasurer; Bourbon County Clerk and Bourbon County Sheriff.

Each candidate was given time for brief opening and closing statements, and to answer questions submitted by the public. The primary election will take place Tuesday, Aug. 6.
