Ivorine "Cricket" Jenkinson

Cricket Jenkinson, a resident of Fort Scott, Kan., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Cricket was born in Wayne, W.V., in November of 1930, the daughter of George and Carmen Dean. She grew up there, and attended Marshall University in Huntington, W.V.

Cricket and George Jenkinson were married in February of 1955, and welcomed their daughter Kelley to the family in November of 1955. They moved to Olathe, Kan., in 1960, and lived there until 1994, when George and Cricket moved back to West Virginia after they retired. George passed away in March of 2011, and Cricket moved to Fort Scott, Kan., in April of 2014 to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law.

In January of 2024, Cricket suffered a stroke and was moved to a care facility in Fort Scott where she lived until she passed quietly on June 18.

She was preceded in death by her parents and all but one of her siblings, as well as her husband, George Jenkinson.

She is survived by her sister Mary Sue Wallert, her daughter Kelley and her husband Randy Sprague, one granddaughter and one great-grandson, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, whom she loved very much and talked about often.

Cricket and George also loved their Boston Terriers, and had many over the years, including “Buttons,” “Bobby,” “Daffy,” and finally “Rosie,” who lived with her until 2021.

Cricket was cremated and her ashes will be placed along with those of her husband, George, in the family plot at Olathe Memorial Cemetary at a later date.

It was her request that there be no funeral services.
