The Bourbon County Public Works Department received approval Monday from the Bourbon County Commission for equipment needed in the continuing process to clean-up following damages caused by late-April storms.

Public Works Director Eric Bailey asked commissioners for permission to purchase another mini excavator to help with clean-up efforts. Damaging storms brought high winds and produced about 12-14 inches of rainfall within a 24-hour period, causing severe flooding throughout the county. The storms also caused damage to some structures, and led to downed trees and washed-out roads and bridges.
