The Fort Scott High School Lady Tiger softball team’s return trip to the Class 4A state tournament did not turn out as expected as the No. 5 seeded Lady Tigers fell 7-1 to the Towanda-Circle High School Thunderbirds in a first-round matchup Thursday afternoon in Salina.

The No. 4 seeded Thunderbirds (24-5) jumped out to an early lead and cruised behind the pitching of senior Elizabeth Randall, who struck out 14 Fort Scott hitters in seven innings.
