The Fort Scott Fire Department will get its own training facility after approval Tuesday by the Fort Scott City Commission.

After a presentation by Fort Scott Deputy Fire Chief Mike Miles, commissioners discussed specifics of the proposed facility with Miles and Fort Scott Fire Chief Dave Bruner. Commissioners also heard concerns from residents on the proposed site for the facility, which would be on an unused open plot of land at 17th and Judson streets, southwest of the Hawkins Public Safety Facility.
