Commissioners unsure if they’ll ask for a quarter or half-cent sales tax increase to fund health care

Bourbon County officials on Monday discussed two possible options for language on the ballot for a sales tax issue to fund an emergency department and other healthcare services.

County Counselor Justin Meeks said he recently spoke with local attorney Charles Gentry on examples that could be on the ballot for an April 16 election. Meeks said the two options are “just ideas,” and no language has been finalized. One option is for a one-quarter cent sales tax and the other is for a half-cent sales tax.
