City commission approves MOU for event center

Fort Scott City Commissioners on Tuesday signed off on the first steps for creation of an event center in Fort Scott.

Commissioners voted 4-0 in favor of a memorandum of understanding between the city and 635 Holdings in Kansas City for the economic development project that has been in the works for nearly three years. Commissioners Tim VanHoecke, Edwin Woellhof, Katie Harrington and Melissa Guns voted yes, while Mayor Matthew Wells abstained from the vote, but voiced his support of the project.
