City agrees to help fund museum conference in Fort Scott

Fort Scott City Commissioners and other city officials on Dec. 5 weighed in on a request for funding to help a planning committee host the 2024 Kansas Museum Association Conference in 2024.

Kirk Sharp, director of the Gordon Parks Museum, requested $15,000 from the city as a committee plans an opening reception and other events for the conference, which is scheduled to take place Nov. 6-8, 2024. The commission approved a contribution of up to $15,000 to the event, and funds will come from the city’s tourism budget.
