Delayed tax statements mailed

Real estate owners are finding they don't have as much between receiving their tax statement and the first deadline of Dec. 20.

On Tuesday, Bourbon County Treasurer Patty Love said the statements were mailed on Nov. 30 and people were beginning to receive them in the mail Tuesday.

The short time frame between receiving the statement and the deadline to pay is not typical for Bourbon County, but it's also within the guideline set by the Kansas State Statute. By law, the statements must be mailed out by Dec. 15.
