Lady Tigers clinch spot in state tournament

The Fort Scott High School Lady Tiger softball team (13-8) earned a trip to the Class 4A state tournament next week with two wins during play in the East Regional Wednesday at Benedictine College.

The Lady Tigers blanked Independence (13-8) 5-0 in the semifinals Wednesday afternoon before edging Iola (7-14) 6-4 in the regional championship game Wednesday evening.

Iola upset Atchison 14-6 in the semifinals to advance to the title game.
