Nathan David Riley

Nathan David Riley, age 61, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023, at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio following a three-year battle with cancer. Nathan was born April 20, 1961 in Fort Scott, Kan., to Richard Riley and Phyllis (Totman) Riley. Nathan joined the U.S. Navy in 1981 and served four years on board the USS John F. Kennedy. Following his discharge from the Navy, he returned to Fort Scott before moving to Newark, Ohio.

He is survived by his four children, Anne (Tom) Colvin, Ozark, Mo., Nathaniel Riley, Newark, Ohio, Matthew (Nichole) Riley, Louisville, Ky., and Amber (Adam) Lehman, Rushville, Ohio; six grandchildren, Christian and Sophia Colvin, Matthew James, Ryan and Addison Riley, and Emily Mircale; his father, Richard Riley; sisters, Belinda Yockey (Don), Christine (Gary) Bosley, and Carol (Mike) Johnson; several nieces, nephews; mothers of his children, Beverly Larsen and Johanna "Gail" Hatfield. Nathan was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Riley.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the Newark Moose Lodge #499, 235 W. National Dr., Newark, Ohio, and at 2 p.m. May 6 at Shelter 1, Gunn Park, Fort Scott, Kan.
