Fences built in violation of city code will be allowed to remain

Following a lengthy discussion, Fort Scott City Commissioners voted to “grandfather” fences constructed before the city revised its ordinance regarding fence construction.

The motion to “grandfather all fences in the city” passed 3-2. Commissioners Tim Van Hoecke, Josh Jones and Mayor Kevin Allen voted in favor. Commissioners Pete Allen and Matthew Wells voted against.
