William Clark “Gable” McKay

William Clark “Gable” McKay of Harrisonville, Mo., formerly of Plattsburg, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021. He was born on July 26, 1939 and was raised by John and Nola Williams at Mound City, Kan. He was a graduate of Mound City High School class of 1957. He married Jennie Myers on May 17, 1958 in Mound City. They made their home in Kansas City for nine years while Gable worked for the Ford plant. They later moved to Plattsburg, Mo., and Gable worked for TWA. They were blessed with five sons, Gable enjoyed sports, hunting and fishing and was very involved with his sons’ activities, such as Boy Scouts and sports teams.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his bothers Doug, Carl, and Jiggs, one sister Joyce and infant son.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Jennie McKay, his sons Chris (Nancy), Troy (Julia), Eric (Michelle), Jeff (Shelly) and Brian (Angela); 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. One sister Billie Faye Cox (Gerald) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Healing farewell services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 22, 2021 at the Bailey & Cox Family Funeral Service, Plattsburg, Mo. The family gathered with friends at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Graveside service was held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Woodland Cemetery in Mound City, Kan. The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Heart Association.
