Saturday wreck claims Gardner man’s life
A Gardner man was killed Saturday morning when the motorcycle he was driving crossed into the path of a vehicle on U.S. Highway 69 in Fort Scott.
The wreck occurred at about 7:40 a.m. just north of the U.S. 69 and South National Avenue intersection.
Ira Parnell Toshavik, 48, of Gardner, was southbound on U.S. 69, driving a 2002 Harley Davidson, when he failed to negotiate a right hand curve and went left of center. Toshavik’s motorcycle struck the front of a 1998 Ford (make not listed) driven by Kitty Nadine Fowler, 38 of Fort Scott. Toshavik was ejected, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol report.
Toshavick, who was wearing a helmet, was transported with a fatal injury to Ascension Via Christi-Fort Scott.
Fowler, who is listed as having a suspected minor injury, was transported to Ascension Via Christi in Fort Scott by private transport.
The report states Toshavik was wearing a helmet and Fowler was wearing a safety restraint.
