Youngster speeds to nationals

A Fort Scott youth has qualified for the Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship Aug. 2-7 at the Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.

Ryan Roberts, 7, qualified for nationals by competing at area qualifying events. He qualified in two different regions; north and south, and qualified at an event in Ponca, Okla., in order to race in Freestone, Texas. Competitors must place in the top six out of 42 riders to qualify for nationals.
