Albert Pickerell Gordon, Sr.
On Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, Albert Pickerell Gordon, Sr., loving husband and father of two children, passed away at home at the age of 71. Al was born on April 12, 1949 in Fort Scott, Kan., to Edward Clifford Gordon and Geraldine Pickerell Gordon. He graduated in the class of 1967 from Fort Scott High School and was an Eagle Scout. He received his BS from the University of Rochester in Rochester, N.Y., and later received another BS degree from Northrop University in Los Angeles, followed by an MS degree from National University in San Diego. He worked for various radio stations and was also an instructor of mathematics at Coleman College in San Diego. On Nov. 15, 1986, he married Eileen Chang Gordon. They raised two sons, Michael and Albert, Jr. Al had a passion for radio as well as ham radio. He also loved to travel; his favorite trips were a trip along Route 66 as well as an African Safari. He was an avid music lover and collector. He was known for his love for his family, friends, and neighbors. He was generous to charity and had a kind and compassionate spirit. Al is preceded in death by his father Clifford and his mother Geraldine. He is survived by his wife Eileen with his two sons, Michael and Albert of Del Mar, Calif., and his brother Ed of Berkeley, Calif. A simple graveside prayer event will be held on the Feb. 19 2021, at 2 p.m., at El Camino Real Memorial Park located at 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, CA 92121. In accordance with current health directives regarding Covid-19, masks will be required. In lieu of flowers, philanthropic gifts in memory of Albert P. Gordon can be made to the Thornton Pavilion at the Jacobs Medical Center by check or credit card.
