Tourism keeps moving during pandemic
Fort Scott Tourism and Community Development Manager Allyson Turvey provided a recap tourism and community development projects of the past year and upcoming events.
She said since the departure of Robert Uhler as community development director, she has “absorbed” his duties. She has moved her office to city hall from the Fort Scott Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Center building. She said there is a good partnership between the tourism office and the Chamber, which means Chamber staff have been helpful in working with tourism.
“I don’t need to tell you it has been a difficult year,” Turvey said. “The tourism industry as a whole has been hit really hard by the pandemic. But there have been some spots.”
