County treasurer, tag offices closed for two weeks

Monday, December 14, 2020

Due to instruction from the Bourbon County Health Department, the Bourbon County Treasurer’s Office and Motor Vehicle Tag Department will be closed to the public until Monday, Dec. 28, according to a news release issued Monday afternoon.

Property taxes are due Dec. 21 and may be paid online through a link on the county’s website, www.bourboncountyks.org; by a dropbox located on the glass doors on the east side of the Bourbon County Courthouse; or by mail. The treasurer’s office will accept postmark by due date as proof of payment.

Motor vehicle tag renewals may be placed in the dropbox or mailed in and stickers will be mailed back to the vehicle owner. Payment may also be made online using the renewal notice from the state of Kansas.

To register a new vehicle, call the office and the paperwork for a title can be mailed or emailed. The vehicle owner will need to complete the paperwork and either mail it back with the title and proof of insurance, or place it in the dropbox in front of the office. After the cost is determined, office staff will call the vehicle owner and once payment is received, the tag will be mailed.

The news release said staff apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate the patience of the public.
