Thirty-three test positive for COVID-19 at jail

Bourbon County announces 33 confirmed cases at the Bourbon County Law Enforcement Center. This includes 24 inmates and 8 correctional officers and one deputy.

Testing for all residents and staff was completed Tuesday.

The Bourbon County Law Enforcement Center officials have been in consultation with officials from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) on next steps to address these circumstances. As a result of that consultation with KDHE, the following steps were implemented:

• Outline any movement of residents

• Additional testing will take place as we continue to work to control the spread

• Bourbon County will remain diligent in monitoring other staff and residents for symptoms The Bourbon County Sheriff’s Office will continue to provide services to the public when called.

The sheriff’s office would not release any additional information at this time.
