Gene Hamilton

Gene Hamilton, 82, transitioned to heaven June 29, 2020 at Garden Terrace in Overland Park, Kan. He was born Oct. 24, 1938, and grew up in Kingman, Kan., with his parents Harry and Bellma Hamilton.
Gene attended Kingman High School where he was an active athlete, Boy Scout and proudly earned the designation of Eagle Scout. He was the Kingman Pool Manager, police officer in both Kingman and Emporia, Kan. Later he was the vice president of marketing for Nickerson Farms in Omaha, Neb., Country Kitchen restaurant owner in Fort Scott, Kan., New York Life Insurance salesman, and a very skilled fisherman, golfer, woodworker, and gardener.
He married his high school sweetheart, Janis Kostner on Aug. 22, 1959.
Gene is survived by his wife Janis, their two daughters and husbands Kris and Darren, Michelle and Patrick, granddaughters Kassi, Katie, and Julie, Brother Walter Burt. He is preceded in death by his twin sister, Jeanette.
The family will hold a private graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery, Belmont, Kan.
A virtual memorial service will be held Aug. 22, 2020 via online video at 10 a.m. (CST). The family will be available to receive visitors online after services until 1 p.m. Please email HamiltonFamilyMemorial@gmail.com for a link to be sent to your email to attend and visit with family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to care for Gene’s disabled granddaughter, Julie Burke. Checks are to be made out to Julie Burke, and sent in care of Livingston Funeral Home, 1830 N. Main St, Kingman, KS 67068
