Marjorie Joan Logsdon
Marjorie Joan Logsdon, 83, of Winfield, Kan., passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at Winfield Senior Living Community.
Due to the current health concerns of public gatherings, a memorial service will take place at a later time at the First United Methodist Church of Winfield, Kan., and burial will follow at the Fort Scott Kansas National Cemetery. Memorial contributions for Marjorie may be made to the First United Methodist Church and Kindred Hospice, contributions may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield.
Marjorie was born in Xenia, Kan., March 5, 1937 to parents William Elmer Ross and Zaida Marie (Worden) Ross. She attended Doyle Country School in Stevens County, Okla., and graduated from Moran, Kan., High School in 1955. After graduating, Marjorie moved to Wichita and worked for Southwestern Bell until she was united in marriage to Merlyn Logsdon in 1968. Marjorie’s favorite hobby was taking care of her family, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved cooking, baking, recipe books and being a seamstress. She liked going shopping, playing bingo, collecting Santa Claus memorabilia, playing with her puppy “Gidget,” being a member of the Buzz Club and the Red Hat Society. Marjorie was also a member of the First United Methodist Church, and Women’s Study Club.
Survivors include her husband, Merlyn Logsdon of Winfield; daughter Karla Armstrong and husband Wayne of Garden City, Kan., and Kansas City, Mo.; grandchildren: Quinton Cheney of Lawrence, Kan.; Tanner Cheney of Denver, Colo.; Duncan Cheney and wife Kelly Sharkey of North Charleston, S.C.; special family members Mike and DeeDee Cheney of Fort Scott, Kan.; siblings Gale Ross and Paul Ross, nieces and nephews, and many special friends and family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings: George Ross, Lawrence Ross, James Ross, Russell Ross, Helen Smith, Lois Kershner, Verl Ross, Doris McCollum and stillborn named “Baby.”
