Janice R. Stoughton

Janice R. Stoughton, 79, of Fort Scott, passed away on Jan. 22, 2020 at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She was born on Nov. 30, 1940 in Kansas City, Kan., to Raymond and Lenora Hufford. She worked as a bank teller for 20 years before she was diagnosed with M.S. and could no longer work. Janice was an avid reader and loved to do needlepoint. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church. Janice especially enjoyed spending time with her family – she loved being a "silly grandma." Janice was a loving soul.

She is survived by her children: Bill Martin (Whendi), Matthew Martin (Tina), and Amy Stoughton all of Fort Scott, and Troy Stoughton (Laina) of Prescott; step-daughter Cristina Stoughton-Logue (Jason) of Columbus, Ohio; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; siblings: Steve Hufford (Monica), Randy Hufford (Shirley), and Cheryl Bell (John); and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be at Highland Park Funeral Home, 4101 State Ave., Kansas City, Kan., on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020 at 2 pm. The funeral is at 3 p.m. Private graveside services will take place at a later date. Janice will be laid to rest at Highland Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Kan.
