Lake sewer rate protest continues

Debate continues on an approved rate hike for customers in Lake Sewer District No. 1 of Bourbon County in 2020.

A few Lake Fort Scott residents who attended the Dec. 17 Fort Scott City Commission meeting voiced their concerns with the rate increase, which commissioners approved at their Dec. 3 meeting.

The rates will jump from the original minimum rate of $15.77 to a base rate of $22.79 per month, and will become effective Jan. 1.
