Cheryle Seaver Childers

Cheryle Seaver Childers passed away on May 14, 2019, at Capital Regional Hospital in Tallahassee, Fla., of pancreatic cancer. She was born on June 21, 1947, in Fort Scott, the daughter of Melvin and Sharon Seaver. She attended Fort Scott schools. She moved to Tallahassee, Fla., and there married Ron Childers on Dec. 27, 1994.
She was a “cat lady” and really loved her rescued cats, and was always on the lookout for any little lost kitty. Although she preferred saltwater fishing, she caught a 14-pound bass in Lake Jackson at Tallahassee. She loved the Florida Keys, diving in the Gulf, and was not afraid to dive with the sharks. She was an accomplished seamstress and an Avon representative. She was chosen out of 40 finalists to be the Princess of the Heart of America Accordian Festival in 1959. She also traveled as a hairstyle model for a few years. She loved to laugh, to read and enjoyed being around people.
She will be dearly missed by her devoted husband Ron Childers; her two sisters, Janice Seaver of Fort Scott, and Susan Hildabrand (Rick) of Fort Scott and their children, Kristen and Brett; two sons, David Smith (Donna) of New York, and Daniel smith of Tallahassee; two grandchildren, Samuel and Adam Smith; and daughter-in-law Cathy Forester. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Sharon Seaver.
She did not want a service or flowers. There was cremation at Lifesong Mortuary in Quincy, Fla. Online remembrances may be left on their tribute wall. Memorials are suggested to Best Friends Animal Society, P.O. Box 567, Kanab, Utah, 84741-0567.
