Students from several elementary schools in Kansas and Missouri learned about frontier life in the mid-1800s during a Thursday field trip to the Fort Scott National Historic Site.

Several Fort Scott High School students served as interpreters in period dress, and were stationed at different locations to give presentations focusing on different aspects of life at Fort Scott during that era. Several Fort Scott High School students also assisted with the living history presentations. Groups of students rotated between the various stations and were able to engage in interactive activities relating to different aspects of life at Fort Scott during the 1840s.

Students participating in activities were from Fort Scott, Pittsburg, Galena, Chanute, La Cygnes and El Dorado Springs, Mo.
