The area received a wintry mix that began Friday morning and was expected to continue into the evening hours. The region was under a winter weather advisory until 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service office in Springfield, Mo.

A winter storm blew into the area Friday, bringing snow mixed with sleet throughout the day. Uniontown High School to reschedule its Homecoming game ahead of the storm, from Friday night to Thursday night. Fort Scott schools dismissed early Friday. There is a slight chance of freezing rain Saturday, followed by a couple of days of better weather before snow returns on Tuesday.
