’Hounds 3-1 at weekend invitational

ST. LOUIS — Fort Scott Community College’s volleyball team went 3-1 over the weekend here and improved to 23-13 on the season. The Greyhounds have won 11 of their last 12 matches.

Fort Scott lost to John A. Logan (Ill.) in its first match on Friday, 20-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-18. Brittany Barnekoff led the ’Hounds with 15 kills and had a kill percentage of .414, which is quite outstanding. Sophie Mader handed out 40 assists. Abbie Casper had 17 digs while Hana Ronnebaum had 15.

The Greyhounds beat the Missouri Baptist junior varsity, 26-24, 25-11, 25-19 as Barnekoff had 11 kills and no errors in 16 attacks for a kill percentage of .688. Mader had 29 assists while Casper came up with 11 digs.

Saturday’s first match saw Fort Scott beat the host team, 28-30, 25-23, 25-13, 25-9. Mykah Wingerter led the Greyhounds in this one with 14 kills followed by Ronnebaum and Jordan Stringfield with 11 each and Barnekoff with 10. Mader dealt 51 assists. Casper had 24 digs followed by Ronnebaum with 21.

The ’Hounds swept East Central, Mo., in their final match, 25-17, 25-20, 25-23. Ronnebaum had 13 kills and Barnekoff 11. Mader handed out 41 assists. Casper scooped up 26 digs.

The Greyhounds travel to Allen Wednesday.
